Basketball Recap: Marquette Crusaders vs. Newark Norsemen

Marquette was the 58-51 winner over Newark when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Marquette Crusaders fell 67-54 to the Newark Norsemen on Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newark to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reggie Chapman, who went 6 of 11 en route to 20 points and six assists. Dylan Long was another key player, going 9 for 18 on his way to 20 points and four steals.

Marquette's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Newark, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Marquette will venture away from home to take on Somonauk at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newark, they will square off against Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark is on a four-game streak of home wins, Seneca a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
