Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Brook). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Woodlawn Colonels a 27-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Mountain Brook pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Woodlawn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Brook will square off against Hewitt-Trussville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Brook's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Hewitt-Trussville's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Woodlawn, they will challenge Mountain Brook at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
