Preview: Boonville Pioneers vs. Mt. Vernon Wildcats
After two games on the road, Boonville is heading back home. They will take on the Mt. Vernon Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Boonville ended up a good deal behind Heritage Hills and lost 67-48. While losing is never fun, Boonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Heritage Hills is ranked 52nd).
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon came up short against Evansville Memorial on Tuesday and fell 52-42. Mt. Vernon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Boonville has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Boonville beat Mt. Vernon 58-49 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does Boonville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Vernon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
