Basketball Recap: Crisp County's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Crisp County was riding high fresh off their 83-40 takedown of Cook last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crisp County Cougars fell 59-48 to the Tattnall County Warriors on Saturday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Crisp County still got an impressive performance from Zakariyya Dwight, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points along with eight boards and six blocks. Dwight has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 21 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylon Cooper, who posted eight points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Crisp County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Crisp County's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-5. As for Tattnall County, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Crisp County and Tattnall County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Crisp County will take on Wilcox County at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th up 301 places (186 vs. 487). Crisp County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Tattnall County (ranked 113th) will meet Claxton (ranked 427th) at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th.
