Softball Recap: Miyamura Wins Going Away Against Bloomfield

Miyamura lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bloomfield, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Patriots put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 16-5 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

ALEXIS BEGAY spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Phillicity Nez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Celeste Cano, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Miyamura was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Miyamura has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Looking ahead, Miyamura will take on Gallup at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
