Softball Recap: Denison Comes Up Short

After flying high against Greenville last Tuesday, Denison came back down to earth. Denison fell just short of the Sherman Bearcats by a score of 10-8 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Yellow Jackets have suffered since February 28th.

Denison got a massive performance out of Addison Ciaccio, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Ciaccio has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Lynli Dickinson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Denison's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-10. As for Sherman, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-13-1 record this season.

Denison will venture away from home to take on Anna at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Anna has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something Denison will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sherman, they will square off against Lovejoy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
