Baseball Game Preview: Westport Wildcats vs. Diman RVT Bengals

The Westport Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Diman RVT Bengals at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Westport has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Diman RVT will come in with ten straight victories.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Wednesday. Westport fell 6-1 to Weston.

Meanwhile, Diman RVT sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Old Colony RVT on Wednesday.

Owen Dorego spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carter Perreira was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Diman RVT's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Westport, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8-1.

Everything went Westport's way against Diman RVT in their previous matchup back in April, as Westport made off with a 10-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
