Football Recap: Booker T. Washington Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Booker T. Washington unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 32-18 fall against the Eufaula Tigers on Friday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Booker T. Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marquez Daniel, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one score.

Eufaula's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylin Wright led the charge by rushing for 196 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 56 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 196 rushing yards gave Wright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was A'Torian Slaughter, who gained 104 total yards and two touchdowns.

Booker T. Washington will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Talladega at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Eufaula, they will face off against Russell County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 885 yards in their previous games.
