Basketball Recap: Ledford Beats Wheatmore for Their Second Straight Win

Wheatmore came into Wednesday's game looking for another win against Ledford, but Izzy Smith wouldn't allow it. The Ledford Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wheatmore Warriors 48-46 thanks in part to Smith, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Love, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Ledford and bumps their season record up to 11-2. As for Wheatmore, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Ledford will square off against Asheboro at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Wheatmore, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southwestern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southwestern Randolph will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Wheatmore surely won't give up without a fight.
