Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Geneva's 14th in Last 15 Outings

It's playoff time, and Geneva had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers 9-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Knights have won 16 games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella Ortiz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Geneva let Chloe Incinelli and Emma Bastian run wild. Incinelli went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bastian went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Incinelli has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Ingram, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Geneva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive matches.

Geneva is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Foundation Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

As of now, neither Geneva nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
