Softball Recap: Leechburg Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ellis last Monday, Leechburg came back down to earth. The Blue Devils came up short against the Serra Catholic Eagles on Wednesday, falling 15-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 10-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Leechburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Zanotto, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Zanotto launched this season. Danica Sopcak was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Leechburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Serra Catholic, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Coincidentally, Leechburg and Serra Catholic will both be playing St. Joseph the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Blue Devils will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
