Softball Recap: Eastern Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Eastern barely beat North Adams the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors never let the Green Devils get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Monday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Allie Grooms made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmery Simpson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Olivia Shelton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Eastern pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for North Adams, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Coincidentally, Eastern and North Adams will both be playing West Union the next time they take the field. The Green Devils will head out to face the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warriors will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
