Platte Valley had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Jefferson Academy Jaguars by a score of 9-5. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hudson Flummerfelt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Mason Hunt and Jeremiah Molinar did most of the damage at the plate: Hunt went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Molinar scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That triple was Hunt's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nick Silvas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Platte Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson Academy only posted an OBP of .364.

Platte Valley pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Jefferson Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7-1.

Looking ahead, Platte Valley will venture away from home to square off against Valley at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
