Recap: Erie Tigers vs. Legacy Lightning

The Erie Tigers won the last time they faced the Legacy Lightning, and things went their way on Friday too. Erie strolled past Legacy with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. Given Erie's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Legacy is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Erie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Hartel led the charge by scoring 17 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Adorno, who scored 13 points along with four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Legacy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Mortensen. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Meghan Allshouse was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.

Legacy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Erie pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.

Erie's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Legacy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erie will take on Poudre at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Poudre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Legacy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Broomfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Broomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
