Baseball Recap: Hamilton Has No Trouble Against Hatley

Hamilton won the last time they faced Hatley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lions blew past the Tigers 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

J.D. Whitaker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hamilton got a massive performance out of Braedyn Lackie, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Tez Danner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Hamilton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hatley only posted an OBP of .379.

Hamilton pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Hatley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Hamilton will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hatley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
