Football Recap: Goodpasture Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Goodpasture Christian dropped to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They had to suffer through a 56-14 loss at the hands of the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Wildcats are ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Goodpasture Christian lost, don't look at Slim Leavell. Despite the final result, he picked up 91 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Andrew Perry also helped out with an impressive 86 receiving yards.

As for Battle Ground Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

Kaedyn Marable continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 282 yards and six touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes, and also rushing for 58 yards. He has been hot recently, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Max Curry did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 69 receiving yards.

Coming up, Goodpasture Christian will square off against Hunters Lane at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Battle Ground Academy, they will take on Grace Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wildcats 13, the Lions 12.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
