Basketball Recap: McCutcheon Takes a Loss

If McCutcheon was riding high fresh off their 78-44 takedown of Kankakee Valley last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McCutcheon Mavericks took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Central Indians on Friday. The Mavericks have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

It was another big night for Zachary Greene, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 18 points and eight boards for Lake Central. Greene's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ireland, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points.

McCutcheon's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Lake Central, their record is now 8-13.

Looking ahead, McCutcheon will take on Kokomo at 7:30 p.m. on March 7th. McCutcheon has given up an average of 55 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Lake Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
