Basketball Game Preview: Herndon Hornets vs. Yorktown Patriots

Herndon has won three straight games at home, while Yorktown has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Herndon Hornets will welcome the Yorktown Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Herndon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over Dominion on Saturday. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Titans are ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Yorktown strolled past Middletown with points to spare last Saturday, taking the game 61-43.

Herndon's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Yorktown, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
