Baseball Game Preview: Union City Tigers vs. Timberlake Tigers

Union City will venture away from home to square off against Timberlake at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Union City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Timberlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Monday. Everything went Union City's way against Verden as they made off with a 10-2 victory. Union City might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Aiden Williams spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Union City saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon McCool, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI McCool has posted since back in February. Jake Faerber was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Timberlake fell victim to Garber and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Wolverines, falling 10-0. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

The win made it two in a row for Union City and bumps their season record up to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Timberlake, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
