Baseball Recap: New Castle Trojans vs. Frankton Eagles
New Castle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 24-6 to the Frankton Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to New Castle of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
Jayden Sticco was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
On Frankton's side, Riley Inglis was incredible, going 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and a triple. Nate Moore was another key contributor, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
New Castle's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Frankton, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Castle will face off against New Palestine at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Frankton, they will head out on the road to challenge Wes-Del at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Wes-Del has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
