Soccer Game Preview: Merritt Island vs. Satellite

The Merritt Island Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Satellite Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Merritt Island is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Merritt Island is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lake Wales as Merritt Island made off with a 5-2 victory.

Merritt Island hit Lake Wales with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Finley McDuffie (2), Addielynn Brimm, Liana Merbitz, and Grace Getchell.

Meanwhile, Satellite kept a clean sheet against Mount Dora on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Hurricanes. Given the Scorpions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Satellite is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. As for Merritt Island, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5-3.

Merritt Island was able to grind out a solid win over Satellite when the teams last played on Wednesday, winning 3-1. Will Merritt Island repeat their success, or does Satellite have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
