Basketball Recap: Brevig Mission Comes Up Short

In Friday's Canine Competition, Brevig Mission didn't have enough. They had to suffer through a 79-45 loss at the hands of the White Mountain Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-55 on Friday.

White Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lana Ashenfelter led the charge by going 12-for-20 en route to 27 points and four steals. Ashenfelter is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lillian Lausten-Katongan, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc on her way to 32 points.

Brevig Mission has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. White Mountain pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

As of now, neither Brevig Mission nor White Mountain have any future games scheduled.
