Baseball Recap: Sparta Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Sparta had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chadwick Cardinals a 17-0 shutout. The Trojans have beaten the Cardinals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.

Trent Eisman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Humble, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Conner Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will face off against Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chadwick, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Chadwick Cardinals challenge Billings Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
