Basketball Game Preview: St. Michael Cardinals vs. Fort Thomas Apaches

The St. Michael Cardinals will challenge the Fort Thomas Apaches at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Thomas took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Michael, who comes in off a win.

Fort Thomas will be up against a hot St. Michael squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. St. Michael snuck past Rehoboth Christian with a 41-35 victory on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Fort Thomas unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 63-40 to Joseph City. The contest was a close 25-23 at the break, but unfortunately for the Apaches it sure didn't stay that way.

St. Michael will have to keep a close watch on Jamie Johnson and Adaia Lorenzo, a pair of players who had a big impact on Fort Thomas' prior game. Johnson went 7 of 17 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, while Lorenzo went 5 for 12 on her way to 15 points and six boards. Johnson's afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

St. Michael's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Fort Thomas, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-5.

St. Michael beat Fort Thomas 52-41 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does St. Michael have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Thomas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
