Softball Recap: Mesquite Comes Up Short

Mesquite lost against Gilbert back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mesquite Wildcats took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gilbert Tigers. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mesquite saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Gutierrez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Gilbert, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Coming up, Mesquite will take on Higley at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Higley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Gilbert, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Gilbert Tigers duke it out with South Mountain Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. They also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 7.3 runs per game.
