Owego Free Academy came tearing into Wednesday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Waverly Wolverines. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on Monday.

Elijah Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joe Palladino was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evan English, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Owego Free Academy pushed their record up to 12-2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Waverly, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

Owego Free Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolverines: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
