Basketball Recap: Columbia Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Columbia entered their tilt with Wellington on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 48-32 win over the Wellington Dukes. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Dukes back in December of 2024, they had to take a 50-35 defeat.

Columbia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sadie Schulke, who posted 13 points and three steals. That's the most steals Schulke has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Miller, who put up nine points and seven boards.

Columbia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Brooke Lehmkuhl and Kalynne Pickering certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Lehmkuhl dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Pickering earned ten points and five boards. That was a full 46.9% of Wellington's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Columbia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Wellington, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Columbia will head out to square off against Brookside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia is facing Brookside at the right time seeing as Brookside is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Wellington has already played their next matchup (against Firelands), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
