Softball Recap: Fruitvale Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Fruitvale waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Hawkins Hawks with a sharp 10-4 win. This was payback for the Bobcats, who suffered a 10-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kyla Bain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Karli Norman was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Rhylea Partin, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Fruitvale's record is now 14-19. As for Hawkins, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-25 record this season.

Fruitvale will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hawkins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
