Soccer Game Preview: Mark Keppel vs. Montebello

The Mark Keppel Aztecs will venture away from home to challenge the Montebello Oilers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mark Keppel has five straight victories, Montebello has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Mark Keppel's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed back in December of 2024. Everything went their way against Whittier as Mark Keppel made off with a 4-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won five matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Whittier with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from KAYLA MURAMATSU (2), RUBY MARQUEZ, and DANIELLE GARCIA.

Meanwhile, Montebello fell victim to Whittier and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Cardinals.

Mark Keppel pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those four games. As for Montebello, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5-3.

Mark Keppel beat Montebello by a goal when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 2-1. Will Mark Keppel repeat their success, or does Montebello have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
