Football Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Camden County

Camden County had won six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-0 to make it seven. They took down Royal Palm Beach 37-20. Given Camden County's advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 28th in Georgia, while Royal Palm Beach is ranked 215th in Florida) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

William Jackson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 192 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, while also rushing for 46 yards. Antwan Williams was another key player, rushing for 120 yards on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Camden County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was Camden County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. DeQuan Edwards was especially locked on to Royal Palm Beach's QB and sacked him three times.

Having lost for the first time this season, Royal Palm Beach fell to 4-1. The game marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Royal Palm Beach's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Demetrius Gibson, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Max Griner, who threw for 282 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt.

Camden County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-19 loss against Valdosta on the 26th. As for Royal Palm Beach, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Boca Raton at 6:30 p.m. on October 3.
