Baseball Recap: Rejoice Christian Drops Highest Score of Season Against Aspire Homeschool

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rejoice Christian). They blew past the Aspire HomeSchool Trailblazers 19-8 on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Callen Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Rejoice Christian is undefeated when Duncan posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rejoice Christian got a massive performance out of Micah Walker, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Walker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trace Sanchez, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Rejoice Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.

The victory (which was Rejoice Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 12-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Aspire HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Rejoice Christian will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Skiatook at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Aspire HomeSchool, they will venture away from home to take on Regent Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
