League recap: Gatling races to league-leading run for Scottsdale Christian Academy

Zechariah Gatling of Scottsdale Christian Academy ran for the longest rushing play in V Section IV this season against Arizona Lutheran Academy last week. Gatling's team lost to the Coyotes as he sprinted for 55 yards on the play and finished with 172 in all.

Scottsdale Christian Academy lost to Arizona Lutheran Academy 81-22 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gatling was a bright spot for Kevin Allen's team, as he in the loss.

Jacob Salmon made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Eagles fell to Scott Indahl's team. The 5-foot-9 junior.

Cole Lenderink was the best receiver in the league this week as Scottsdale Christian Academy lost to the Coyotes. Lenderink racked up 6 receptions for 75 yards. Tommy Hill helped Scottsdale Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 19 yards.

Gatling was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Jack Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 35 yards.

Gatling was a passing and rushing force as the Eagles lost to Arizona Lutheran Academy.

Brandon Haagsma put up the best numbers in passing as Valley Christian lost to Northwest Christian. He had a total of 13 completions for 100 yards. Haagsma's favorite target this week was Cory Kasperson, who caught 3 passes for 42 yards.

A big matchup in V Section IV this week will be when Scottsdale Preparatory Academy takes on Veritas Prep. The Spartans are in fifth place, while the Falcons are in first place.

Veritas Prep made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,292 from 13,846. The improvement came about via a 38-6 victory over Imagine Prep Coolidge last week.
