Basketball Game Preview: Morton Indians vs. New Home Leopards

The Morton Indians will square off against the New Home Leopards on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Morton comes in on three and New Home on 12.

Morton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Roscoe by a score of 58-50.

Meanwhile, New Home posted their closest victory since December 10, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Quanah 41-39. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Indians are ranked 845th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Home's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. As for Morton, their win bumped their record up to 18-14.

Morton took a serious blow against New Home in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 84-38. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Morton was down 39-16.
