Softball Recap: South Pasadena Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Pasadena had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Archer School for Girls Panthers as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Natalie Kan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolene Wu, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Brooke Zeisler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

South Pasadena's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Archer School for Girls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5.

Coming up, South Pasadena will challenge Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. Archer School for Girls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
