Soccer Game Preview: Fairmont vs. Archbishop Alter

Fairmont hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Alter recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Firebirds will look to defend their home pitch against the Knights at 7:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Fairmont took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Springfield get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Fairmont haven't had any issues with Springfield recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Alter got the win against Chaminade Julienne Catholic on Thursday by a conclusive 5-0. Archbishop Alter's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six matches.

Paige Sheets and Ella VanDenabeele scored all five of Archbishop Alter's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Archbishop Alter's victory bumped their record up to 11-1-3. As for Fairmont, their win bumped their record up to 6-4-5.
