Basketball Recap: Macie Witt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Limon over Evangel Christian Academy

Limon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 56-37 to the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles. The Badgers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Limon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Macie Witt, who posted 12 points and seven boards. Those 12 points gave her a new career-high. Gianna Humphrey was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Evangel Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Castro, who dropped a triple-double with 12 points, 11 assists, and 11 steals. Castro is becoming a predictor of Evangel Christian Academy's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 15-2 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sara Caldwell, who had 17 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Limon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Evangel Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Limon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-26 loss against Sedgwick County on the 25th. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-48 win against Flagler on the 28th.
