Soccer Game Preview: South Mountain vs. Browne

South Mountain is 0-5 against Browne since January of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The South Mountain Jaguars are taking a road trip to take on the Browne Bruins at 6:00 p.m. South Mountain is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Thursday, South Mountain earned a 3-1 win over Cortez.

Meanwhile, Browne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Hamilton. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Huskies are ranked tenth).

Browne's goal came courtesy of Anthony Hernadez, who's now up to 11 this season.

South Mountain pushed their record up to 8-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three contests. As for Browne, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

South Mountain came up short against Browne when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 6-4. Can South Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
