The North Duplin Rebels will challenge the Rosewood Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
North Duplin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Union get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.
Garrett Stevens was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stevens was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. Those runs were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Noa Quintanillia was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he hit this season. Wesley Holmes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
North Duplin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Rosewood got the win against Neuse Charter on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-3. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Graham Lassiter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Lund, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Rosewood pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for North Duplin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Duplin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rosewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
North Duplin couldn't quite finish off Rosewood when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Will North Duplin have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
