The Goodhue Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Goodhue took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Zumbrota-Mazeppa, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Cougars on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Emma Voth spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aubrey Christianson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Christianson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Kenyon-Wanamingo had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Awesome Blossoms as they made off with a 17-11 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the Knights' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
The team relied heavily on Amber Lerfald, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Chloe Donkers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Kenyon-Wanamingo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Goodhue's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Kenyon-Wanamingo, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Goodhue might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Kenyon-Wanamingo when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
