Basketball Game Preview: Portsmouth Trojans vs. Fairland Dragons

Portsmouth is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Fairland is on a 11-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Portsmouth Trojans will welcome the Fairland Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Portsmouth is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Rock Hill: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Portsmouth blew Rock Hill out of the water with a 65-20 final score. With the Trojans ahead 43-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, everything went Fairland's way against Gallia Academy on Friday as Fairland made off with a 58-32 victory. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairland's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Portsmouth, their victory bumped their record up to 19-0.

Portsmouth strolled past Fairland in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 67-49. Does Portsmouth have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
