Football Recap: Connor Hatfield Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Park Hill

Liberty is still undefeated this season after their contest against Park Hill on Friday, but Park Hill came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Blue Jays skirted past the Trojans 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Jays have posted since November 8, 2024.

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Hatfield led the charge by rushing for 124 yards and one score on only ten carries, while also throwing for 117 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing yards Hatfield has posted since back in October of 2024. Colt Nolin also helped out as he racked up 149 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Liberty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 295 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Liberty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hank Blackburn and Deacon Price. Price got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Liberty's record is now 6-0. As for Park Hill, they dropped their record down to 3-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Blue Springs South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Jays will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Park Hill, they will square off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
