Baseball Recap: Grant Extends Winning Streak to Three

Grant entered their tilt with Saline on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 15-0 shutout. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Myles Futrell and Landen Fletcher did most of the damage at the plate: Futrell went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Fletcher went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Futrell a new career-high. Eli Watkins was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.

Grant's record now sits at 11-16. As for Saline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Grant will challenge Welsh at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saline, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Summerfield at 5:00 p.m. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.73 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
