Football Recap: Clarksville Academy Comes Up Short

Clarksville Academy was the 30-12 winner over Ezell-Harding Christian when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars lost to the Eagles on the road by a 35-21 margin on Friday.

Loss or not, Clarksville Academy got some senior leadership from Ethan Bones and Andrayas Scott. Bones threw for 150 yards and a pair of TDs, while Scott gained 46 total yards and two touchdowns.

Terris Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ezell-Harding Christian, rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. The Eagles are undefeated when Smith posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Another back making a difference was Christopher Barnes, who rushed for 58 yards and one score.

Clarksville Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Ezell-Harding Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarksville Academy will host Donelson Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ezell-Harding Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Zion Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. Zion Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ezell-Harding Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
