Sebastopol is 9-1 against Noxapater since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sebastopol Bobcats face off against Noxapater Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Sebastopol will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
While Sebastopol didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on J.Z. George with a sharp 16-1 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won four contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Colby Dooley and Harrison Peebles made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Dooley tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Peebles pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Dooley scored two runs and stole Three bases., while Peebles scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Peebles has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Luke McGarrity was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in triples (two). Lowry Moore was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Sebastopol hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Noxapater's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Saturday. They fell just short of Choctaw County by a score of 5-3. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Braxton Daughtery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Noxapater saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Joiner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Sebastopol's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Noxapater, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sebastopol has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Noxapater struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sebastopol couldn't quite get it done against Noxapater in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can Sebastopol avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
