League recap: Winters extends undefeated streak to six games

Winters (23-6, 8-3) has won six games in a row, 1A Region I District 2's longest active win streak. In the past week, the Blizzards won another three games, including a 6-5 victory over Seymour. Fabian Esquivel's hot bat led the team this week, as he racked up three hits and one RBI.

Behind a 3-0 record over the past week, the Blizzards made the biggest jump in the Texas state rankings, all the way from 658 to 561.

Winters' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories. The Blizzards' pitchers have been charged with only 118 hits and have struck out 240 batters. Strait Daniel is tops on the staff with 105 Ks.
