Baseball Recap: Loyd Star Takes a Loss

Loyd Star lost against Columbia back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hornets fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carson Cunningham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Casen Easterling, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Loyd Star's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Columbia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loyd Star will welcome West Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Columbia, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Amite School Center at 6:30 p.m.
