Baseball Recap: Ayer Shirley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Narragansett Regional

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ayer Shirley). They blew past the Narragansett Regional Warriors 15-0 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Tyler Cyr made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Ayer Shirley is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-5 otherwise. Cyr was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenny Lewis, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Ayer Shirley's record now sits at 3-6. As for Narragansett Regional, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Ayer Shirley will venture away from home to face off against Maynard at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Narragansett Regional, they will host Tahanto Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stags' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
