Basketball Recap: Franklin County Comes Up Short

Franklin County lost against Fleming back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Franklin County Eagles took a hard 61-44 fall against the Fleming Colonels. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Colonels are ranked 94th).

Franklin County has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Fleming, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Franklin County is taking a road trip to take on Lord Botetourt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lord Botetourt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Franklin County likes a good challenge. Fleming has already played their next contest (against Staunton River), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
