Volleyball Recap: Queen Creek Takes a Loss

Queen Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Higley Knights, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 1st.

Queen Creek was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Higley work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-17, 25-16.

Queen Creek's offense was headlined by Brock Harris and Jaxon Wold, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Orlando Petrie and his 18 assists. Wold was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Higley had a senior duo take command as Britton Skousen had 13 digs and two aces and Brayden Farnsworth had 32 assists and three digs. Those 32 assists set a new season-high mark for Farnsworth.

Queen Creek's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Higley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-2 record this season.

Queen Creek has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Highland on the 22nd. As for Higley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Prescott on the 18th.
