The Rancho Cotate Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Windsor Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Cotate is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Rancho Cotate took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Sonoma Valley.
Isabella Scardina was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabella Harumi, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.
Rancho Cotate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Windsor gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Healdsburg, sneaking past 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won three in a row.
Alyssa Rivers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Taylor Ford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Windsor pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Rancho Cotate, their record is now 6-7.
Windsor's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rancho Cotate has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Windsor, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Rancho Cotate's sizable advantage in that area, the Jaguars will need to find a way to close that gap.
